VMI Studio

This R&D focuses on experimenting with the new interactive rendering features introduced in RenderMan 22, particularly within Houdini.
The goal was to test how the updated workflow could improve look development, lighting, shading, and scene iteration by providing faster feedback directly inside the DCC.
The features I explored included:
- Interactive / live rendering
- Interactive geometry placement and deformation
- Interactive lights, cameras, and light filters
- Rendering of curves, points, volumes, meshes, and packed primitives
- RenderMan Material Builder shader networks
- Interactive Render Region
- Houdini MPlay and Render View (IT)
- Automatic RenderMan texture conversion
The main focus was understanding how these update could support a more responsive production workflow, especially for look development and lighting, where fast iteration and immediate visual feedback are extremely valuable.
