The Crown
The main lighting work focused on HDRI cleanup and preparation, plate matching, asset look development, shot lighting, and maintaining updates across multiple shots.
Because the show aimed for a highly realistic visual style, matching CG objects accurately into live-action plates was especially important. This required careful control of light direction, intensity, color, exposure, reflections, and material response so that the CG elements felt naturally integrated into the photographed environment.
Atmospheric conditions such as rain and wet environments added another layer of complexity. Wet surfaces introduce stronger reflections and specular response, which can make even small lighting or material mismatches much more visible.
